Baba Bing Maps just got better.

Bing maps with Birds Eye View has always been a bit better with the close up views. They just got a bit better. You have to download "Silverlight", quit Safari, and go back to Bing maps but it is well worth it. The coolest thing is it will automatically select the best view from the distance you click on. Find your house and the spin around it at closeup view. If you have done any yard work you can tell when the shot was taken. I have been building rock walls for the past two years and can tell exactly when the shot was taken by where my granite is.

Early spring 2009, probably February. Time of day is interesting. Shots from the east looking west and it is early morning so the exposed side of the house is lit. Then switches to noon for north and south shots then photos from the west is afternoon. Amazing how many shots it must take to do this.

I check Harvard Square for highest resolution. Someone from MIT or Harvard is running this somehow since that part of Cambridge is always the first to up resolution. One can see individuals walking in the Square and whether they have dark or light pants on.

I've been playing around with "miniturization in photoshop" which is a way to blur and mask photos like this so they look like minture models. The Harvard Square on could easily be done.

I saw that too about a week ago. Mackerel Snappers with a sense of humor. Kind of surprised it is still there. The Bing map info does not seem to be as editable as the google map info. Google has it right, it's Weld Hall. Since it is tucked right up against Widener Library Dallas does not show until the highest magnification so it could lurk there for quite a while. I'll have to sick the fellows of Harvard College on Bing.
