Just now live updated the forum software (which explains some of the lost styling, which should return shortly), so now the next task is those smilies you want, plus additional MyCode/widget thingies for multimedia, video, etc embedding.

Later,

Khan Academy
Khan Academy

Pretty cool.
Quote:The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of providing a high quality education to anyone, anywhere.

We have 1200+ videos on YouTube covering everything from basic arithmetic and algebra to differential equations, physics, chemistry, biology and finance which have been recorded by Salman Khan. Listen to a recent interview by Salman with NPR's All Things Considered

Download the Khan Academy factsheet. You can also read more about the Khan Academy vision in this document.

The Khan Academy and Salman Khan have received a 2009 Tech Award in Education. The Tech Awards is an international awards program that honors innovators from around the world who are applying technology to benefit humanity.

Sal has just launched the alpha version (the software version of a first draft) of a new version of the old web app. Try it out if you're interested in practicing some of the concepts in the videos.. It requires a google account (not the login from the old app). The old, slow version is still available here.

To keep abreast of new videos as we add them, subscribe to the Khan Academy channel on YouTube.

The entire video library is shown below. Just click on a category or video title to start learning from the Khan Academy!

Brain Teasers | Current Economics | Banking and Money | Venture Capital and Capital Markets | Finance | Valuation and Investing | Credit Crisis | Geithner Plan | Paulson Bailout | Chemistry | Arithmetic | Pre-algebra | Algebra | California Standards Test: Algebra I | California Standards Test: Algebra II | Geometry | California Standards Test: Geometry | Biology | Trigonometry | Precalculus | Statistics | Probability | Calculus | Differential Equations | History | Linear Algebra | Physics

About:
Quote:Salman Khan (Sal) founded the Khan Academy with the goal of using technology to educate the world

Sal received his MBA from Harvard Business School. He also holds a Masters in electrical engineering and computer science, a BS in electrical engineering and computer science, and a BS in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

I recently enjoyed The Current Credit Crisis:

and New American Bank Initiatives, co-authored with Berkeley professor, Dr. David Leibweber.

Dan Meyer: Math class needs a makeover

Today's math curriculum is teaching students to expect -- and excel at --
paint-by-numbers classwork, robbing kids of a skill more important than
solving problems: formulating them. At TEDxNYED, Dan Meyer shows
classroom-tested math exercises that prompt students to stop and think.

Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity
Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case for
creating an education system that nurtures (rather than undermines) creativity.
