Cool Leonhard Fuchs (the guy they named Fuchsias after) created a beautiful
book of botanical illustrations. Someone donated a copy to Yale and made
a high resolution scan available to the net. Take a look! Cool

Fuchs Botanical - 1545

The digital version of Fuch's Botany of 1545 was created by Richard Siderits, M.D. The volume consists of a dedicatory letter, an alphabetical index (table of contents) listing plant names, and 516 woodcuts of plants, some colored. All pages have been scanned at very high resolution with a color scanner. Files are large, typically about 800K. Each image represents two pages of the book. Comments on the scanning project may be addressed to Dr. Siderits.

Fuchs, Leonhard, 1501-1566

Primi de stirpivm historia commentariorvm tomi uiuæ imagines, in exiguam angustioremq[ue] formam contractæ, ac quam fieri potest artificiosissime expressæ...Basileæ, 1545
7 p. l., 516 p. of plates (part col.) 17 ½ cm.
Copy from the Historical Library, Cushing/Whitney Medical Library, Yale University, donated by Harvey Cushing.

Again with the attention-grabbing tactics.

What, you think nobody's gonna see your stuff unless you super-size n' center 'em?

That's an odd compunction you have there, girl.

Uh Oh...The Doctor's getting all liquored up and spilling stuff again!

Eh, I guess it's the Illustrator in me.

I figure it gives folks a place to stick around in & explore during the Low Traffic Intervales rather than clicking onto another forum.

I din't think any one minded if for no other reason than it amuses me to do so.
IOW: I like it, and I enjoy doing it. Tongue

Why? did it make you feel better to blast me just for the hellovit?

Rolleyes RE: EDUCATIONAL Tools
as for "attention grabbing"

this is also so;
but not trying to grab it for myself as much as
for the forum, both as decoration, and as points
of interest complete with links with the potential
to generate discussions and conversations.

I suppse I could do it in Battleship Gray
or Olive Drab, but what fun would that be? [Image: th_wink.gif]

RE: EDUCATIONAL Tools
Decoration, ehhh?

You'd probably also use 100 different fonts and crap-ass MS clipart in a neighborhood newsletter, too. And leave no space uncluttered while you're at it.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should

Uh Oh...The Doctor's getting all liquored up and spilling stuff again!

Definition of Diversity

The concept of diversity "encompasses acceptance and respect."
It means understanding that each individual is unique,
and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along
the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs,
political beliefs, or other ideologies. It is the exploration
of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment.
It is about understanding each other and moving beyond
simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the
rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.

What is that funny little saying ? Oh yeah.....
I'm unique like everybody else Smile
